This year camp runs for 6 days and 5 nights from Sunday noon through Friday noon. The fee is $2,495 and is all inclusive. That includes not just the group classes, but lodging, all meals, jam sessions, workshops and lectures, evening outings to blues clubs, and more... pretty much everything.

Intermediate Blues Guitar

  • Modal, 8 &12 bar progressions, variations
  • Major and minor blues forms
  • Boogies, shuffles, jumps, lumpty-lumps, rhumbas, stop time and other blues rhythms
  • Chord inversions, basic and advanced comping, rhythm riffs
  • Quarter, half and full note bends
  • Major and minor pentatonic, and blues scales

Advanced Blues Guitar

  • Major and minor pentatonic and blues scales
  • Articulations, bends, vibrato, slides, hammer-ons and pull-offs
  • Picking, plucking, rakes, right hand techniques
  • Motif development and what makes a distinctive melody
  • Intros, endings, turnarounds
  • Tone and its relationship to playing technique, the instrument, and the amplifier

Blues Bass 

  • The Blues scale and bass lines
  • Plucking, thumb, fingers and picks, muting
  • Modal, 8 &12-bar Blues progressions, variations, major and minor forms
  • Intros, turnarounds, endings
  • Walking the bass lines
  • Staccato, legato, dynamics
  • Octaves, fifths and chords
  • Keeping time, holding down the bottom

Blues Harp 

  • The Blues scale
  • Cross harp, 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions
  • Embouchure, lip pursing or pucker, tongue blocking, slaps, flutters
  • Bends, glissandos, tremolo, vibrato, shakes
  • Basic Blues chords, licks, and solos
  • Tone and its relationship to playing technique, the instrument, and the amplifier
